The introduction of the e-card in Austria is a success story which cannot only be attributed to the quality of the suppliers and service providers charged with the development of the infrastructure. The essential preconditions for the realization of the project within the legal prescriptions are to be found in the high quality of the tendering procedures, the target-oriented management of the project by the Main Association of Austrian Social Security Institutions and his subsidiary company SVC as well as the professional and social competence of the involved staff.

During the performance of our task – external project controlling, risk and requirements management – we experienced a constructive and open partnership with our customer, the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions as well as with our project partner SVC. Both in meetings of the management board as well as in conversations with the project team the tasks were always fulfilled in a professional way with regard to the common success of the project. This was above all due to the professional and social competence of the acting persons.
We are proud of having contributed to the e-card success story together with the Main Association, the SVC and all other project partners and are looking forward to further mutual projects within the scope of the integration of hospitals and the eHealth initiative.

The cooperation with SVC is based upon great mutual trust which was gathered during the intensive negotiations in the run-up of the e-card rollout. In the course of the implementation of the e-card project the SVC proved to be a reliable partner. The engineering competence of SVC as well as the intimate knowledge of the processes in the different social insurance institutions on the one hand and the know-how of Telekom Austria in the execution of complex Austria-wide projects on the other hand resulted in the assignment of Telekom Austria to provide the physicians with the HIN (Health Information Network) access. In peak periods more than 100 physicians per day were connected to the HIN.
From Telekom Austria’s point of view the e-card project as well as the set-up and operation of the peering point are very successful top projects. The effective implementation within the short time schedule and cost budget was only possible because of the close cooperation with SVC.”

Because of the outstanding efforts of the project managers and their teams from SVC and Siemens IT Solutions and Services the project target could be reached in time and in budget. Since then both partners SVC and Siemens IT Solutions and Services work together intensively in the secure operation and future applications of the e-card. Since September 30th 2006 - after a two years lasting support of the operation of the two high availability server centres by Siemens IT Solutions and Services - the operation of the server centres is now in the responsibility of the highly skilled SVC team. Since October 1st, 2006 the operations centre is running efficiently under the control of SVC.
With their competence SVC and Siemens IT Solutions and Services together make an essential contribution to the development of Austrian social insurance.
